Atkins is good for a quick fix - do it for 2 weeks and lose anything up to 15lbs (I lost 8)

its quite tough not eating carbohydrates though

Jazzicatz · 28/05/2007 18:14

atkins works but you will put it back on if you go back to lots of carbs

Jazzicatz · 28/05/2007 18:22

Yes it is great, and really does work. There is a 1 hour session for when you have some time, and then 3 separate 1/2 hour slots whixch work on cardio, toning and boxercise. Really is good. Big pots of vegetable soup, made fresh, which you can delve into whenever you are hungry. Not good for the wind, but then it is only for 4 weels!!!!

Anything that cuts out white carbs will flatten tummy and be a quick weight fix.

Buy yourself some cheap ankle and wrist weights and make some time to walk some of the way to/ from work whilst wearing them. You know the get off a stop earlier trick or whatever works with your commute. That way you are still "on your way" and it doesn't feel like you're "wasting" time on exercise, iyswim.

Brown rice, Brown pasta, Brown bread!

Wholemeal everything! Works fine

Don't mix carbs with protein, but if you do, limit one of them

quadrophenia · 28/05/2007 18:33

I have just started slimming world and lost 9 lbs in two weeks

Jazzicatz · 28/05/2007 18:33

I would avoid carbs like pasta and bread for a quick diet!!!

fireflyfairy2 · 28/05/2007 18:35

The pasta thing fits in with the whole SW ethos!

I have lost almost 2 stone.

Pollyanna · 28/05/2007 18:38

that Jason Vale juicing diet is good for fast weight loss. and you have to exercise on it too.

kylah · 29/05/2007 12:43

Brown rice, veg, lean chicken, fish, no booze ( I know!) Plenty of walks with the wee one, weather permitting and lots of sex to burn the cals at the end of the night!

3andnomore · 29/05/2007 12:46

Jason Vales 7Ibs in 7 days....it does what it says....absolutely brilliant....and then do the Turbocharge or the way he outlines for the next couple of weeks after, to get your metabolism moving again

Don't give up your normal food! (unless you have an addiction to saveloys and chips) The safest thing I reckon you could do is what I once did:

  1. eat fruit + yoghurt for brekkie ev day - delish and should keep you interested as there's loads of diffrernt summer fruit available

  2. use the portion control 'diet' - you use your hand size as a guide for the portions of food which you eat. I googled and found this guide on the web:

Some "Hand Method" Tips
A serving of protein should be about the size of the palm of your hand
Eat a salad that is the size of both hands put together
Green vegetables should be the size of about two fists
Meats and poultry should be the size of one hand and the thickness of the center of your palm
Starchy items like potatoes or pasta should be served in a portion about the size of one tightly clenched fist.
Fruits should be about a handful worth

( actually for fruit and veggies you can eat as much as you like)

Also, ChocolateMummy! I see what your food passion is, I've rumbled you! Eat ONLY good quality dark choc as it satisfies you v quickly so you eat much less (try 'hotel chocolat' online - FAB choccies)

Scuse the typos - my 6 month old son wants to help me type!

Good luck and have a fab hols!

Porridge for breakfast, keeps you full all morning and reduces cholesterol. Make it with water not milk and it's fat free. Spoonful of jam on it is still less sugar than a bowl of Cornflakes.
No carbs after 5pm.

The best one I have discovered (and I have done a few in my time, sigh!) is the Gi Jeans Diet by Rosemary Conley. Basically, the low Gi foods keep you fuller longer (so you don't get hungry) and it is low fat (aiming to have most things which are 5 or less grams of fat per 100 grams of product) - so you eat less fat and lose the fat off your body. As the others have said, exercise in conjunction with cutting your calories is the most effective way. Take a look at Rosemary's website and see if it appeals to you. I bought the book first, but there is also a magazine.

The Kick start diet which is recommended for the first fortnight (see the book) is 1200 cals/day, then it goes up to your basal metabolic rate (table in the back of the book to show you how many cals you need as a basic daily requirement), so any exercise you do on top of that is having the effect of shrinking you . To stay on 1200 cals/day for longer isn't necessary, as it has the effect of slowing up your metabolism.

It really works and you would definitely see a wonderful difference in a month - but it depends what method suits you best. I have a lot to lose, but by week 11 have lost 37 lbs.
