Long term implications of elevated CK levels

Any doctors around?

I have had high CK levels a couple of times. It's not my heart, but from exercise. I've been told this is not good. The level dropped to normal after a week off. I am being encouraged to do less exercise, but I have been unable to find (either by asking health professionals, or my own research - I am scientist so familiar with PubMed etc), what the actual problems could be if I continue to exercise at this level.

I have always been an athlete.
