Broken wrist - plates and screws

A month ago I broke my wrist - ulnar and radius. Both were set with metal pins in surgery.

I am still really struggling and wondered if others could share experiences. I can't use a sling because any pressure on the ulna plate and my hand goes numb. I can't put my hand by my side because my hand goes numb. Good movement in my fingers but very little in the wrist. Any time I try I feel a burning pain and the pin grinding.

I don't know if I'm just impatient but I was told I shouldn't feel the pin and I can feel it all the time.

Any words of wisdom?

My DS has a wrist full of metal.
It doesn't bother him at all so I think you should go back to your surgeon and get it checked.

I'm back at the fracture clinic next week so I will. It doesn't feel normal to be this bad after this long. But they told me any pin had to stay in at least six months. Which makes me feel very despairing.

You need to get this checked - my colleague had a similar-sounding injury and was back at work with very little pain 3 days later and pretty much 100% after a month.

How did they manage that ink? I was told not to use the arm for 6 weeks.

Yes. Getting more sure this is wrong.

Desk job - no heavy lifting Grin. I think she kept the support on for about 6 weeks when traveling on public transport just to stop people knocking it, but she was definitely writing a month later. Maybe it was just a less serious break.

Does sound a bit less serious but I'm so jealous! Today I have burning pain in the joint and numb ache in my little fingers
