Diabetes, come and tell me about it!

I was speaking to my mum earlier and she asked me if I thought I could have diabetes, which totally threw me because I've never even thought about it before!
She asked because at the time I was complaining about getting thrush all the time, can't seem to find a reason for it. I also have a disabled dd who's disability is normally the result of being born to a diabetic mother. Wierdly it never occured to me that I could have it I just presumed I was a rarity
But I don't have excessive thirst, wee a lot etc which is what I would have normally thought of if someone mentioned diabetes.
So anyone in the know what do you think? Should I go and be tested? Or does it sound really unlikely?

Oh meant to mention, I am overweight which I know is a factor, but I wasn't before I had dd

the diabetes uk site has an online test which shows if your high risk, I think you can get tested at chemists now?

Thanks yellowshoes, if the chemist does a test I'll go do that. Saves the faff of trying to get a Dr's appointment

Definitely get a test. Lots of people who are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes have never noticed any symptoms. The Diabetes UK site is here.
