been going there for decades literally and just phoned to book my yearly appointment to be told they no longer do them Hmm not surprised for varying reason but am really upset. Can anyone recommend a london based women's clinic who do smears & the like? many thanks

Many years ago I used to go to the Margaret Pyke Centre on Charlotte Street - there seem to be a few around London now. Not exactly a recommendation as it was so long ago!

Sorry if I'm being ignorant but can't you ask a female nurse / GP at the doctor's practice you're registered with?

The Portland or The Lister Hospital.

Charley50 Probably because making an appointment and/or seeing GP/nurse is not always compatible with working full time in central London. I went to the Margaret Pyke centre because it was near work and I could go at lunchtime. I had a commute of more than an hour - not uncommon - and would have had to take time off work to go to GP. Plus people who work in sexual health/family planning clinics do smears all the time so they are often very good.

Ok OP i was just wondering.. I live in London too and have a commute of an hour.
Try Google.

You have to go yearly? Is that due to an abnormal result?

LanguidLobster · 07/07/2018 05:47

But yeah GP, or local sexual health clinic near you
