What colour is "spotting"????

Really embarrassed to ask this question but when people refer to getting "spotting" instead of a period / before a period / during taking the pill or if they are pregnant what colour is the blood. Is it bright red or is it that sludgy dark browny black stuff. Sorry for TMI!

I usually go straight to the red stuff when my AF arrives and my sore boobs go , my mood improves etc. This months i have been worried about being pg due to a forgotten pill and now i have had the sludge for two days (not much of it) still have sore boobs, bad mood, sore ovaries and no proper AF in sight!!

When i had spotting with Dd1, it started off as brown, which the doc said was old blood. After a while it went to red blood.

Have you done a test ??

No i havnt nutty because i was just so sure that af was round the corner. My AF is not really due for a couple of days .... dont know what to think now
