Im thinking of going back on the pill after a gap of many years - the problem is that i do get migraines about twice a month and i know that the pill isn't recommended for those with migraine BUT does anyone know of any that are more suitable or perhaps have migraine and have been told that its ok to take the pill. I will speak to my GP but just wondered what other people have experienced. thank you !

There is more than one pill option you can try but it must be single hormone pill. The combined pill as you said is not recommended for migraine sufferers, this is due to increased risk of stroke

Thank you Sheldon. Ive just remember (as if i could forget) that i also have a meningioma and some studies have linked growth to female hormones so maybe thinking it maybe not the best option. What a pain !

I was coming on to say, you might be able to have the mini pill, which is what they put me on after I started getting migraines on the combi. Still worth discussing options even given your other concerns as there may be other alternatives?

If you have migraines without aura you can have the combined pill depending on your medical history (smoking, weight etc) I am 40 and have just gone back on it. If you have aura they will not allow it due to risk of strokes.

Thanks - yes i have migraine with aura so thats the combined out of the question.
