Omeprazole - how long before I feel better?

Just that really. Had bad reflux including lump In throat. Started taking yesterday on advice of GP. Feeling quite anxious about symptoms - so no scary stories as already aware of dangers of untreated GERD.

About seven days, it's very good for reflux.

Less than that I’d say. You should feel better within the next couple of days.

I reckon less - I take it because i have to take Naproxen for a back problem. I ran out today of Omezrapole and by lunch the quesy feeling caused by Naproxen had started. Kind of a reverse answer! Hope you feel better soon.

Two days for me!!
I had to take a much stronger dose though (obviously on drs advice). It didn't work initially! I haven't had it since, I stopped taking the drug after a few weeks 😊 I had gastritis after pregnancy.

Makinglists, are there any side effects from the Naproxen if taken with it? I have never taken it as the side effects in the literature sounded scary.

Ok thanks all. The other worry is the side effects. 1 in 10 get stomach polyps. Do these go when treatment stops? I’m now really anxious about it taking them.

Where are you getting the information that 1 in 10 get stomach polyps?? I am taking omeprazole for the past 4 or 5 years. I am more worried about not taking them, because of the damage the excess stomach acid is doing to my stomach lining.

Generallyok · 20/06/2018 12:26

Hi Sadie. The patient information sheet that comes with the meds, states 1 in 10 get benign stomach polyps. Yes I agree that untreated reflux is bad too just wish I could get over this naturally but even doing everything right I’m still suffering.
