Post-cryotherapy verruca agony - please help!

I've had a verruca on my heel for a few months. It has caused me a lot of discomfort when walking, so my GP has been treating it with cryotherapy.
I've had two blasts of it at intervals of 2-3 weeks, and the third one today.

After the 2nd treatment I decided to try using Scholl verruca plasters in between the cryotherapy sessions.

Today the GP began by carving away a load of dead skin on/around the verruca (there was some bleeding) and then did the cryotherapy. It was AGONY, but I held on as long as I could.

However, the pain has not gone away and if anything seems worse. I've taken some paracetamol but my heel feels like it's literally on fire. I'm writhing on my sofa, totally incapacitated.

Is this normal? When will the pain subside? I've not dared take off the dressing to look at it. Anyone else been through this?
