How do I cope with this?? Please give me some hope..

Just found out my dad has liver cancer, and sounds like it is quite advanced. Does anybody know anyone who has been through this? Any positive recovery stories would be great?

What treatment have they suggested? How old is he?

He is 63 this year. They are still doing some tests, but said today it has spread, so cannot remove.

Sorry to hear this OP. Liver is tricky, a close relative had kidney cancer few months ago but removing it at the right time saved her, it was simple as we have two of them
Liver is trickier . What stage is it? Where did it spread to? Spreading doesn't mean they can't remove.. have they given him a particular diet?

Ah I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Learning a parent has advanced cancer is a huge shock.
I had this with my mum and it was one of the worst days of my life.
Advanced liver cancer is difficult to treat.. you can find out more on the Cancer Research UK website.
Macmillan are very good and helpful in telling you what to expect

Kidneys are 'easier' as they are tough buggers and tumous tend to stay put.

The liver is an amazing organ though - one donor liver can go onto 2 people (I'm sure a friend who works in that filled said 4 of they are children /babies).

63 is young these days, it really is.

Thanks all. I have been reading up about it but it just upsets me even more. They seem to put it into 4 groups, a,b,c & d. The first 3 he has a chance, d, it’s juat a case of chemo to try to prolong his life. The docs are all havin a meeting tomorrow after some more tests today to make a decision, but was told yesterday he has what is like white spots all over his liver. I’m everybody’s point of contact as well so my phone doesn’t stop and I have to keep trying to explain it over and over again, it’s draining. Also got a little 5 year old who misses her grandad and wants to know when he will be home. How the hell do you explain what’s happening!? Sorry I know nobody has all the answers, I just need to get all this out.

Sending you hugs, similar issue with my dad a while ago I got my niece a couple of children's books from amazon about going to the hospital and about nurses. She loved the books and when she then overheard things about grandad and hospital it wasn't a scary place etc etc.
It's going to be tough make sure you are kind to yourself and keep yourself healthy as it will help you cope in the stressful times.

As I said try and look after yourself but yourself some nice flowers and watch a film with DD try and spend time relaxing and aloe yourself time to feel sad as it's very very normal xx
