I have posted this also on the menopause board.

I'm really worried right now. Am 28 months post meno and on Sunday I had a small bleed with Lower belly ache and headache. No bleeding yesterday but started again this morning with red blood and now brown blood upon wiping (sorry if tmi). The bleeding is very light. I am not on hrt. Have booked a gp appointment for Friday but was just wondering if you have any experience of this. I wish I hadn't googled.

That should read Post meno bleed.

It can be a sign of endometrial cancer but if it is it is one of the easiest ones to treat, you will be fast tracked for a scan under the two week rule.
But post meno bleeding can be down to other reasons, one being vaginal atrophy, have you had any soreness/dryness down below?
This site www.menopausematters.co.uk has a forum and others have been investigated for post meno bleeding, you might want to use the search facility to read up on those cases.
Also how old are you?

Try not to worry, easier said than done I know, but you have been sensible in booking an appointment straight away.

I remember reading a thread on this last year (not here) that went back years. It was all women who had post men bleeding and were going through the routine of the checks etc... Of all those who posted, many of them, only one came back with a cancer diagnosis but at a very early stage and came back to post to say she'd had the whole clear.

It is supposedly quite common but need to be checked just because of the small risk of something more serious, especially when as said above, if picked up early, it can be treated very successfully.

I had post bleed 2 years.
You have to see Gp asap, you have to mention the bleeding to receptionist
You should get in the same day.

They will send you to hospital, as they did me
You have a thing(can’t remember name) bit like smear, where they look inside and take swab.
Mine turned out to be fibroids
You’ll be fine

I too had bleeding after the menopause but I know myself and when I was upset/stressed my periods were all over the place. I had a hysteroscopy under GA after my urine test was full of red womb blood.
Had this twice and got fed up as nothing serious was found and I knew it was a breakthough but I was on HRT and you say you are not.

I didn't bother afterwards and just put up with the breakthroughs caused by stress without going to GP. My smears were always fine too.
My friend's DD had an early menopause with no problems so not on HRT and she had a bleed 2 years after her last. But everything was OK.
The Hysteroscopy was only a 20 minute peocedure.
Good luck

I had this just over a year ago. I'm a lot older than you Op and it was really quite scary. Had a biopsy (they lost the results so had to have another one!) had the internal ultrasound thingy which showed thickening of the lining of the womb. Biopsy came back showing no problems.

Gynae thought it had happened because I have been on Ovestin for many years for vaginal dryness and was just one of the unlucky ones. Most people have no problems. I ended up with a Mirena coil inserted under GA to ensure the lining of the womb did not thicken again. Just 13 months since and everything has been fine. Fingers crossed for you.

I have just gone through this Op and had a recent thread on the Menopause Board (sorry don't know how to link). I had a bleed 15 month's after my last period and I am 57. I had no idea when I first posted that it was something that I needed to get investigated. You will get fast tracked as it is classed as an unusual bleed and will have a hysteroscopy and possibly a biopsy. I also had an ultrasound. I had my procedure last week but had it done under a general anaesthetic as I don't tolerate internals very well. Mine was all fine too and, in fact, they didn't feel it necessary to do a biopsy in the end. I did find out thanks to the ultrasound that I have loads of fibroids outside my cervix but they didn't think they had caused the bleed. They said it was probably residual hormones as my hot flushes have also returned.

You have my sympathies Op as it really worried me but the chances of it being anything nasty is small but you are doing the right thing getting it checked out.
