wisdom tooth infection painkillers not working

I was posting on someone else's thread earlier but need to start one of my own.

Basically, I have an infection in the gum around/under my wisdom tooth and in a gland in my neck near to it.

Saw the dentist today and have an antibiotic. Got some paracodol for pain (each tablet is 500mg paracetomol and 8mg codeine). Trouble is, they are not killing the pain - they take the edge off but it's still so painful Sad can't open my jaw properly and swallowing is painful so struggling to eat.

Any ideas/suggestions? Was hoping I could go into work tomorrow but at this rate I won't be able to Sad

Take ibruprofen as well but in between the cocodamol. Or contact GP / nurse for stronger cocodamol.

Clove oil will help numb the area...shouldn't work but does (or certainly did when I had an access)...Holland and Barrett was where I got hold of some in desperation.

Ibruprofen, paracetamol, codeine and liquid ambesol direct on the tooth to numb it and it's an antiseptic too. I also do salt water washes couple of times a day. I'm so sorry you're in so much pain, it is awful. I have 2 impacted/semi erupted wisdom teeth that often grumble and get infected, it's shit.

Thanks for all the suggestions - i shall head to the pharmacy today.

Been awake since 3am - took more painkillers but they took ages to work.
