Due an operation tomorrow, runny nose!

Hi All,

I'm due to have an operation tomorrow on lower limb that I have been waiting 18 months for. It was cancelled 2 weeks ago due to staff shortages and I am currently off sick as the pain is unbearable.
Question is I have a cold/runny nose that started on Tuesday. Don't feel ill with it just annoying the my nose keeps running.
I have woken up this morning with no voice, no previous symptoms of a sore throat or cough and don't have a sore throat now, slight cough but I have been cleaning thus maybe due to dust.
Will the hospital say no?
I really need this operation and can't afford for it to be cancelled again.

I had a c section when I had a cold. Didn't really have a choice to delay it. Do be honest with your surgical team though. Anaesthetic does very risks and they need to be fully informed. A delay is better than death or serious injury.

let them decide , but I doubt it will be cancelled

I've had an operation with a cold before, under general anaesthetic. I guess it depends how bad it is, but it could still be fine. You'll see the surgeon and anaesthetist before the operation goes ahead anyway so they'll be able to assess you then and make a decision. Hope you still get your op!

I think they will very likely base on it whether your temperature is normal, which it probably is if you feel well in yourself.

Temperature is normal and has been throughout.
Fingers crossed then.
