Just a virus or needs checking out.

I've had what I thought was a virus since Saturday. painful chest, struggling with breathing with a hacking cough.

I had pneumonia just before Christmas with different symptoms so discounted an infection on those grounds.

I'm not getting better or worse just staying the same really. The only think I've noticed is when I'm coughing phlegm up it is just horrible. Bad enough to leave me nauseas.

I can get to the doctor no problem but didn't want to bother them with a virus or spread it about.

Anyone had similar with a chest infection or does it sound viral? On one hand it's not worsening but on the other it's day 5 with no improvement and I'm starting to get fed up.

I'm not an idiot honest, I'm good at monitoring my mental health and keeping it in check. Just not physical illnesses for some reason.

It probably is just a virus but if it's bothering you enough to post here then it probably is worth seeing at least the practice nurse, if not the GP. We can't diagnose you - if you need proper reassurance, which is absolutely fair enough, then go see someone.

Thanks Hassled think I just needed to see a rational suggestion.

I'm rarely physically ill but do have anxiety which could even explain some of the symptoms.

I never thought about the practice nurse either which is a good idea, the GP's are usually a lot busier at my surgery.
