Worried

Just looking for a hand hold really as I’ve only told 2 people in RL. I’ve been bloated and in pain for ages and they said I had a stomach ulcer (which I think I did) but also anaemic and heavy periods. The pain has gone since I took the ulcer medication but now they’ve found a cyst on my ovary and I’m panicking (I googled and am really panicking) that I have ovarian cancer. Doctor is doing blood tests next week and doesn’t seem terribly concerned.
I’m always bloated due to bad muscle separation about childbirth but I think it’s worse now. I’ve lost a lot of weight (deliberately) so the bloating is more obvious. I’m only in my 30s with small children and so worried.

How scary for you. My Mum had ovarian cancer. One thing I would say is - I assume you had a scan to pick up the cyst? Generally they have a suspicion it’s cancer when they scan, so if they haven’t said and the bloods haven’t been done urgently then I would hope they don’t suspect cancer, but I’m sure you won’t relax until the results are in.

I’ll sit and wait with you in the mean time Flowers

I’ve had OC, so I know how worried you’ll be. Waiting for tests and results is the worst part, so sending a massive handhold.

They will do a CA-125 blood test but it’s very important to know that this test can give false results. My CA-125 was normal but I had OC.

Anyway, you’re very young to have OC, so it is probably just a benign cyst. It’s no use telling you not to worry but do try and keep busy and do lots of nice stuff to try and keep you going. 💐

My MIL had a cyst on her ovary, she had the typical "bowling ball belly" - round and firm - they say can sometimes be a sign of ovarian cancer so we persuaded her to go to the doc and for a scan.

Turned out to be a totally benign cyst the size of a grapefruit. Whipped her into hospital, whipped it out, home 2 days later feeling much better.

Don't spend your time worrying what might be. If the doc thought it was cancer you would be on the 2 week referral pathway - and even then there is every possibility of it being nothing much.

I've had 2 ovarian cysts. Both benign. Both were huge. Made me look 6months pregnant. I had them both drained and removed via keyhole surgery.

Thank you so much for responding. I’ve been in work today which has been a good distraction.
