Bullseye rash

I’ve been camping in France over half term. We all got bitten loads by mosquitos. They were everywhere. All my bites looked the same. Tonight after my shower I noticed one of my bites has now shown signs of bullseye rash. I’m really worried. We didn’t think see any other insects on us. Just multitudes of mosquitos. Can a mosquito bite turn like this. I’m worried it could be lymes. But I really didn’t notice any ticks around.
Anyone??

Are you back home? A bullseye should be taken seriously and you should see a doctor.
You can easily be bitten by a tick and have no idea.

You really should ring 111. That's a classic bullseye rash and Lyme disease is a risk if not treated.

Ticks feed and then drop off. They can be really tiny and go unnoticed.

You need to go to out of hours. A bullseye rash could be lymes. Is the area you were in a risk area? You need antibiotics - I suggest you go on the lymes website and print off as much as possible to take with you. Several reports on the bbc site where lymes was not picked up. You can test negative I think but still have it.

How do you feel? Headache? Lethargic?

I get awful marks from mosquito bites but they don’t have the outer circle you have. Just a massive roundish red bit.

Definitely straight to the GP and antibiotics needed.

My dad had this and was diagnosed with limes disease - please go for a blood test !

Worth getting it checked out, but just for the record, all my mosquito bites look like this for a while! Not sure why, figured it was some peculiarity of mine

Tick bite, risk of Lyme Disease. Seek medical help immediately. How quickly you get appropriate treatment makes a huge difference to the outcome. Take care and good luck ck.

You need to go to your GP IMMEDIATELY. Don't delay and more importantly, make sure your GP understand the implication of this rash. It is almost certainly a tick bite and this is inflammation typical of Lyme disease.

Lyme disease can be treated well if you get the RIGHT dose of antibiotics at the RIGHT time. If you don't, complications can be quite bad.

Most GPs know little about it, so even if they do know you need to start on antibiotics, they are likely not to know which one and how long you need to be on them. Don't let them wait to do a blood test before getting antibiotics, these can take weeks to come back and you need treatment as soon as possible.

Thanks all. I’ll contact my gp as soon as the surgery opens this morning. It doesn’t look as prominent this morning but is still there. It was more noticeable once out of the shower yesterday.
I’m worried about it now after al of your replies but grateful for them all the same.

You need to see the GP this morning. Do inform this person as well that you have been camping in France (in grassy areas and particularly if you have camped in Eastern France as there is a higher level of risk from tick bites). You would not have felt a tick anyway if it had bit you.

Spoke to the gp on the phone. She didn’t want to see me!! She said it remains visible whereas mine has almost gone today. She also said it’s too quick for a bullseye from lymes. Everything she says doesn’t match Nhs online. However the bullseye has disappeared now. I feel fine too. She said if I begin to feel off colour, she will change her plan!! I personally thought it was too late by then with lymes tho!!

She said some mosquito bites do have this reaction with the ring around it as it’s the histamine releasing. I am an ‘allergic’ person that carries an epipen. Could it just be my over excited mast cells?!

I agree don't let this go. She might be right maybe it's not a reaction to a tick bite BUT if it is the longer you delay getting antibiotics the harder it is to eradicate the infection. A course of antibiotics is unlikely to lead to serious consequences, not treating Lyme disease can.

Personally I would print all info from the Lyme org website and go to a walk in centre or a prescribing pharmacy.
