Is a one sided rash ever NOT shingles?

Hello!
I’m just wondering if anyone has experience of this situation. I have had a one sided rash for at least the last three weeks. It’s painful, and because of where it is, I can’t even sit comfortably. I’ve seen 2 GPs in that time and the first thought it was probably shingles even though it didn’t look typical but because I’d already had the rash for about a week and a half, it was too late for antivirals. The second I saw today and is leaning more towards it being a bacterial infection of some kind and has prescribed antibiotics and steroid cream.

The reason the second GP thinks it isn’t is that the rash doesn’t look like a typical shingles rash - so not the usual little crops of blisters, more like insect bites which have become infected. But why would I be covered in bites in just one area, which isn’t open to the air, and just on one side?

I’m a bit lost now as to what to do - do I take the antiobiotics? Do I seek a 3rd opinion? I’d be grateful for any thoughts or experiences! Many thanks in advance.

Sounds very like shingles to me,i had it in february, and it is painful, but i thought mine was insect bites too,
You could try some virasafe i think its called,from chemist,its for chickenox and shingles, the spray on,its really good at calming itching and pain
