At 11:15am. It is going to kill me isn't it?!

Not been to a gym for ages, and even then stopped quickly because of time. Now DD is at school and I have two days a week free, no excuses.

So, no looking back...help!!!

I bet this will probably be an easy session as they'll be wanting to show you lots of equipment and so won't spend a great deal of time on any one thing. Enjoy it! Check out the hunky men, enjoy the time to yourself, treat yourself to a sit down with a cup of tea and the paper afterwards.
Have fun.

mustrunmore · 21/05/2007 09:13

It'll be superb You can mill around doing a bit of everything. Make sure you ask all the questions you want, so you dont worry about not knowing how to use the machines properly. Then have a sauna

CODalmighty · 21/05/2007 09:14

no till be great

Hulababy · 21/05/2007 09:16

Well I have my induction at 11ish. So will do that and set up a workout - at the moment I want all cardio.

Then will go down tot he bar and have a light lunch and drink, and read the papers.

After that will go and actually do a work out, and if time pop intot he jacuzzi for a rest - before collecting DD at 3:25.

Oh - reminds me. Have no shorts. Loads of suitable t shirts, but no bottoms that fit. Have trainers from previous attempts!

I love the gym.
Its me social life.
Going once is easy.
Sticking to it is where challenge lies.

Hulababy · 21/05/2007 09:22

Will do MellowMa - but, as I said, going to try and go for pure cardio for now and then add resistance training later.

Instructor will winge as I can only go twice a week most weeks. Maybe the odd time midweek if DD has a playdate at a friend's house. But if two days is all I can do he will have to just work round that!

Hulababy · 21/05/2007 09:23

Moondog - pre DD I was really good. Went for a year and half or so, 3-4 times a week, and lost loads of weight and was really toned. Then got bad sickness in pregnancy and it all petered out. Never managed to get back into it since then, with time being major factor. Now have more time tomyself.

Two days is fine.Try to fit in another session though-walking,bike riding, aerobics, jogging.
This is the first week in 18 mths haven't exercised three times (last effort was Race for Life on Sun)as weighed down with uni work and work work. Feel terrible too.

Hulababy · 21/05/2007 09:24

I want longish ones too. Have Declathlon nearby. Not sure what other sports shops, not unless I go into town. Gym does have a shop, which did have a sale on, but not sure what they had. Probably lots of lycra, weeny things in size 6-8!!!

Trakkie bottoms sell for aboput£7 in Ethel Austin.

Hulababy · 21/05/2007 09:29

Just realised that it will be first time I have had to exercise with my glasses on too. Still can't wear my lenses for at least another 1.5 weeks, when I go back to eye casulty - have an eye ulcer - which is a pain.

I'm back. Spent most of afternoon there and then went to a friend's after school.

I did my induction at 11:30am, and then I did my full 1 hour cardio workout - well as much of it as I could I'll write my workout in a sec.

Then I had lunch - a nice healthy salad and water, followed by a sit with the papers.

I forgot to take my costume so couldn't swim, so I tried a class out. A quick skip and abs class - 20 minutes or so. Was a killer, but fun

Okay my routine is a 60 minute cardio workout. Effort levels refer to Techno Gym machine settings:

X Trainer: 15 minutes. Continous speed, at whatever effort level I choose, normally 2-3

Recline bike: 15 minutes. Start at effort level 1 and go up 1 level every 3-4 minutes.

Rowing machine: 15 minutes. 30 seconds fast; 60 seconds slow

Running machine: 15 minutes. 5 mins at 5km/h; 5 mins at 6km/hr and then 5 mins at 7.5 km/hr.

Not on my routine but will try and do a couple of sets of ab crunchers, 15 reps per set.

Good luck!

My stomach muscles hurt today, but suprisingly my legs are not too bad. Might have to work harder next time

I joined S10 4 weeks ago Hula, and am loving it. I do both cardio and weights, 3 times a week and love it! Body already more toned and slightly smaller, but still jot the jelly belly!
