My iron levels were at 8.3 around 3 weeks ago. I've been taking a high daily dose of iron tablets for 3 weeks and when I called for my new blood test results I was told it's now at 111.

So is that 11.1? And is 8.3 actually 83? I just wanted to compare numbers and the 111 has thrown me off because there's no . in there.

Can someone translate for me? Many thanks in advance!

Is it actually iron or something like ferratin. My ferratin levels went from 5 to 70 after similar treatment.

seeline I've no idea I was just told that I was anaemic with an iron level of 8.3. I've been on 210mg of Ferrous Fumerate 3x a day and now my level 111 Hmm

Totally normal. My iron level was 9 and my fertility Dr wanted to see the number nearer 150 to be able to conceive. But be aware, there are two different scales that Dr's use to measure iron, apparently. My fertility specialist uses one, and the NHS uses another, which really confused matters, initially.

The two different numbers are haemoglobin and iron stores. Haemoglobin should be between 11-15 (but 11 is borderline low, 12/13 would be better so keep taking tabs) Iron stores should be over 20. Not sure what the top end number is but it's over 100. He was probably referring to haemoglobin and meant 11.1

Your levels wouldn't go from 8 to 111 in there weeks, it takes months to build up iron levels in most people.
