Why do I need an ultrasound?

I didn't really think to ask earlier but doctor said I needed one and I refused tonight but will get it done Monday (for continual bleeding).

It just didn't occur to me to ask at the time but why on earth would I need an ultrasound?

I've had an ultrasound for horrible periods (heavy bleeding and horrendous cramps) and they checked for fibroids and to ensure that nothing was fused to anything else; my ovaries were deemed free moving etc. The technician was great, ask them your questions and I'm sure they'll be happy to answer.
