Hello, Im not pregnant but I have just had a kidney infection which has been treated. The GP sent me for a ultra sound due to pain I was still having. I did this last week. Today, I have only just received a letter from the hospital referring me to a urology clinic. The letter was sent out on the day I went for my ultra sound (21/05/2018). I was just wondering whether this means they've found something on my ultra sound results or whether its just protocol? Surely if it was clear they would leave it?

Possibly you have a kidney stone or signs there was one Recently. It is what they are generally looking for with ultrasounds.

I know it is hard but try not to worry until you know what they have to say.

The sonographer should tell you there and then if your kidneys are clear and if there are any stone formation/sand.
Later on they're sending the letter with "official"results to your home and keeping the same in the hospital records. Your GP should be also noted.
Ultrasound scan can be sometimes misleading/unclear so please don't wait any longer and go to the clinic for more tests.
Most likely you'll be given contrast to colour your urine and some more detailed pictures will be taken to see your kidneys, this exam is very precise and will tell if you're all clear.
Fingers crossed! Good luck!

You need to ask your GP for the results- they should have them and if not he/she ought to chase them up.

You need to find out if your upcoming appt is routine and to tell you there is nothing to worry about or if you need more tests.

GPs coordinate all of this so they are the ones to contact and chase.
