Hello everyone

DD has just been sent a date for her booster DTP+Hib. I was always worried about this and dp and i agreed that we'd get her to have blood tests before any boosters (to see if they were infact neccessary!).

I will ring Direct Health 2000 who we went with for her seperate jabs but i just wanted to see if anyone here had done it.
Is it possible to do it any other way???

we had it done via BUPA for ds's MMR. They were cheapest about £100, others were quoting over £200. Results took abt 2 weeks. Your GP has to issue you with a blood test request form even though you are paying.

I was always going to do this, but was recently told by a very informed private GP (Australian, and a father so I trusted him) that boosters are necessary to boost immunity, even if the first ones did give immunity - apparently the second (or later) exposure ensures that the immunity lasts for life. I haven't realy loked at it in detail yet, and am sure others will have, but it made me question whether it was better to test and not boost.

Hi there, just has my ds4.5 immunity for measles mumps and rubella checked privately cost approx £50-60 results approx 1 week, with full statistical listings i.e. figures for his immunity next to a list for what it should be. Please to say that it was not too unpleasant and he is immune to Measles and Mumps so now just need to deal with the personal choice of rubella for a boy.

PS Prufrock i promise i am not stalking you and FYI the immunity test was done by the wonderful Andrew at J & L's
