What could be causing my wheeziness?

I had a heavy cold at the end of March resulting in a cough. 8 weeks on I am still wheezy and ‘chesty’. Went to see the urgent care nurse who said I didn’t have a chest infection and sent me for a chest x ray which has come back normal. She is also made me do the breath test thing to check for asthma and this is also normal.

So, what is going on? What could be causing the wheeziness? And what can I do about it?

Hay fever? Perhaps try antihistamine for a few days and see if that makes a difference.

I agree that it could be hay fever as my teenage DD has had a cough and says she's wheezy and she is suffering badly with hay fever at mo and has done for a little while now. Glad the tests came back clear although I can appreciate it's annoying not having a diagnosis per se. Ask the Dr / Nurse next time you see one about possible hay fever causing it.

Allergies. Try antihistamines, see if they help.

Hay fever and/or pollution. I take antihistamine every day march to October.

Thanks. I hadn't considered that hay fever could affect the chest for some reason but of course it makes sense. I'll give the antihistamines a try.
