Ninewells Children's Hospital - anyone been?

I've got to go down with my DS this weekend to start a series of tests on Monday. We're being seen by the Pediatric Neurology dept, but will be staying on the children's ward. We're booked in for the whole week, so I was wondering if anyone has stayed there with their child? Do you get a room, or is it open plan wards? We're not local to the area, and I've never had to stay overnight with a child in hospital before so I have no idea what to expect.

Any tips would be most appreciated. DS is 5.5 months old, and I'll be on my own with him as DH is staying behind to look after our other children.

Sorry if this is the wrong topic to post under... not really sure where to put it...

Thanks!

I've no experience of Ninewells Paed dept but why not phone your Consultant's secretary and ask what to expect? Good luck, Ninewells has an excellent reputation!

My mum lives very near this hospital and just had an operation there last week.

Sorry I don't know anything about the childrens ward.

Nailpolish may have worked there at some point or may have the info you need. Try catting her or keep this bumped for her.

Thanks suedonim & Fimbo for the replies. I've phoned to ask about what to bring, but they weren't sure about the room situation yet as they were still looking for something.

we had to take ds to the new childrens hosp for a check up, not staying overnite thou, but it was brilliant, it only opened last year and it is really nice.
The only problem with the hospital is the parking, i would fone and ask about that before you go and leave a car there overnight.

MommyUpNorth · 20/05/2007 08:37

Thanks Clayre. We've phoned about the parking and they had 4 parking lots open, and only £1.60 per day... so it doesn't sound too bad.

be careful if your leaving your car there overnight, they love to put tickets on cars for the hell of it and it's really difficult to get out of paying the fine.
