Does this sound like a normal stomach virus?

For the past two days or so I've been feeling really bad. Symptoms are bloating, a lot of excess gas (literally constant yesterday and very uncomfortable!) and stomach pain/cramps, slightly nauseous after eating, feeling completely fatigued and achey and also a sore throat.

I haven't had any actual vomiting or bad diarrhoea (one not very nice poo this morning and that's it) and no high fever, a slight temperature only.

Does this sound like a virus or something else? I'm really struggling to function as I feel
utterly exhausted and have zero energy. Not had anything like this before. All stomach viruses I've had have come with more classic symptoms of vomiting etc.

Yes that sounds viral, poor you!
Try probiotics, activated charcoal, lots of fluids. Paracetamol or possibly buscopan for pain relief as the latter will help with cramping pain.

My DD (14 yrs) has the exact same symptoms as you op - she's been off school since Tues morning totally wiped out - and doc said yesterday it was probably a virus but did blood tests to rule out anything else. (She's feeling much better today btw.)

My mum has exactly this

Must be a virus then, I'll get some good probiotics and try the active charcoal. I'm relieved to hear other people are experiencing the same. I was getting a bit worried it might be something more sinister! Too much googling!!

Suspect its the Norovirus!

Plenty of fluids try Imoidium that clear up ye olde shits quickly 48 hours is the time it lasts and then its over.

Doesn't sound much like noro. Confused
Avg. duration of noro is 36 hours. Diarrhea alone without vomiting is not typical.
A very typical thing about noro is that it seems to come on very sudden & seems to leave fast, too. And it tends to be violent.
I could go on...

I'm not medically qualified but am part of a team that researches stomach bugs. There are plenty of germs that could give OP symptoms like that. How bad you respond depends on dose you got, prior levels of immunity to same or related bugs (etc), so impossible to say which one you've got without laboratory test. In meantime, Keep fluids up, take it easy, hope you feel better soon.

Thanks medschoolrat Smile. I'm feeling a bit better this evening, so hopefully over the worst.
