Piles

Has anyone found an effective treatment or had an operation to sort out their piles? I've been hearing about banding, stapling and halo. Just want to gather as much information as I can before making the decision.

I'm going in hospital this week for treatment but they don't know what they're doing yet...I'll keep you posted!

I had some, er, bullet like suppositories that cleared mine up once and for all. They weren't major but did keep coming back repeatedly for years, this seems to have gotten rid at last.

avuncularis · 21/05/2018 18:46

egdehsdrawkcab Please could you say what they were called? I've got a couple of persistent ones that are draining me of the will to live!

MissTulipan · 22/05/2018 07:35

Scheriproct cream from GP, wonderful stuff

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 27/05/2018 06:21

Had mine banded last week at the same time as having a large fissure botoxed. Apparently it's going to take 7 - 10 days for them to drop off but it was a lot less painful than I expected.

MissTulipan · 27/05/2018 08:44

MidLifeCrisis2017 How are you finding things after Botox? I am probably having this done soon for a fissure but consultant has given me one last cream to try to see if that heals it. I’ve had issues for a year now, with piles too. I’m concerned about having Botox and returning to work. Worried about uncontrolled farting and needing to rush to the loo, I work in a very small office. Hope you feel better soon.

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 27/05/2018 09:21

I feel absolutely fine! They wanted to sign me off till a week tomorrow but I'd feel like a total fraud. Wind no worse than it was preop- seems to have been one of my symptoms. Fissure was big and they've done a biopsy but said it doesn't look suspicious.

Difficult to say whether it's worked yet but no bleeding so far. Piles are still there but should be gone in a week.

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 27/05/2018 09:23

PS no desperate urge for the loo yet, I think the psychological fear of the pain hasn't faded - it's a bit like the first poo post childbirth!

MissTulipan · 27/05/2018 13:55

Hi OP sorry to have jumped in on your thread, how are you feeling? Did you find any comfort from anything yet?

MidLifeCrisis2017 thanks for sharing that and I really hope you heal with the Botox. It’s reassuring to hear you are feeling ok. I have managed to be a bit vague at work with regards to recent appointments but not quite sure what to tell them if I need Botox. Will suggest I work from home after perhaps?

Piles and fissures are so horrid. In feb I was sent for banding but the consultant wouldn’t do it as said they were superficial.

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 27/05/2018 13:59

I did wonder about working from home but really if I feel like this on Tuesday, there's no need.

I work in an all male team and they've assumed it's a gynae issue!

MissTulipan · 27/05/2018 14:21

I work in a mainly female team who always ask questions. Really not keen to tell all. I imagine men ask much! Wishing you all the best and thank you

MissTulipan · 27/05/2018 14:23

Men don’t ask much should have read. Women more nosy!

egdehsdrawkcab · 27/05/2018 14:35

Sorry I'll look for my last couple tonight and give the name!

Nooblynoo · 27/05/2018 23:35

Those suppositories have calmed things down. I'm going to be a lot more aware of my colon from now on in.

I know of someone who had staples and Botox, then halo so will catch up.
