Hi. My gp has just prescribed these for me.

I’m dealing with my daughter being acutely well on multiple occasions. The adrenaline rush I get when this happens leads to a post traumatic slump afterwards. My heart pounds at the time and I feel on speed!! Then the slump afterwards is so dramatic I just want to hide under a rock!!

I hate taking new medication and am wary for many reasons.

  1. is it ok to exercise while taking these?
  2. weight gain due to them?! Any way to avoid it?! 3)my gp told me I could take them as and when needed. But when I collected the tablets it states 3x a day on the packet. Can I not just take them as and when?!

Thanks for any one who takes the time to read, let alone answer this x

Not sure as to 1 and 2, but they are actually heart medication, so when taking for anxiety or similar you don't need them all the time. Whereas if you were taking them because your heart was dodgy you would.

(this is what I logically assume anyway - my husband has these for anxiety and it says the same on the pack as yours)

I take them as I need them. Up to a max of 30mg a day otherwise I feel dizzy. My GP said I could have up to 80mg a day. They work a treat for panic attacks and quite quickly.

Good luck with them.

I exercise with them and haven't gained weight.

My dd is on them for migraines so she has them daily. She's gained no weight at all.

I take 80 mg a day for migraines - no side effects, no weight gain and fine to exercise. They work very quickly so can be taken as and when.

Wow thanks so much. Really reassuring

Don't do too much exercise or you might feel a bit faint. I passed out in physio a few weeks back. Gave my therapist a bit of a shock. Grin

I have them for high bp and tremor. I can only take tiny doses as they make me really hot and and really tired. So I take 40mg at night (when I want to be tired!) and 3-4 x 10mg in the day. A low dose should wear off quickly (4-6 hours). They help a bit with anxiety too. But as others have said they are principally a heart medication so be careful if your heart rate is already slow.

They can drop your blood pressure. So that can explain ppl feeling faint. No weight gain. You can take up to 3 times a day. You can just take as prescribed. Some days I could take 2, next day none and it was fine.
