How on earth do you get rid of verruccas?

DD has had a verrucca for about three weeks, we have been 'bazooka-ing' and filing the dead skin away daily but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
Am I missing something? Is there a miracle cure? Is bazooka just crappola?
TIA

Banana skin? Never heard of that one!
So do you think all the treatments are useless? Maybe I should just keep it covered (so it doesn't spread) until it goes??

There was a support thread and loads of people claimed banana skin was the thing to do. Gotta keep at it and keep it on ever night for a couple of weeks.

Thanks LMG, I'll search the old threads.

they do eventually just go away and with any luck won't come back.
My 3 dc all had them one after the other, and when the youngest got them I didn't bother treating them at all - they went just as quickly as the bazooka'd, filed-down veruccas on dc no.1.

The banana treatment

Put the inside, fleshy part of hte skin against teh verucca. Just cut a piece to cover the verucca, cover with a plaster.

small piece of skin, fleshy side down. Hold in place with a plaster/micropore tape. Change every 24hrs, wiping any balck residue away with a babywipe, file about once a week. DDs verucca droppped off after about 3 weeks with banana after bazooka (vile stuff) had her in agony every day for 2-3 weeks.
I have heard that blackened banana is best but I don't like spotty bananas so it was never that black - but I always tried to pick hte ripest part of the skin. I also stored it in the fridge (in a sandwich bag) for 3-4 days before using a fresh one so I didn't have to eat bananas every day.

It worked for us and is painless in contrast to bazooka.

We got DD's zapped by the GP. It took a few treatments plus a dose of Wartner at home.

I know the best thing is to let the body overcome it, but it was on the ball of her foot and she was turning her ankle to avoid putting pressure on it which was causing more pain further up her leg/hip.

SlightlyMadStew · 17/05/2007 21:43

Just try the banana for 2-3 weeks - you have nothing to loose - if you see no change try something else. It is probably the 2nd most valuable piece of parcticle info I have got from MN...

DD did get a bit private about the bananas - but give the alternative of Bazooka whcih was very paiful for her she was easliy convinced though. She didn't tell anyone that she had banana straped to her toe - and got very embaressed when she heard me telling anyone else....

alternatively leave them alone, they will eventually go.....

The bananas did bugger all for ds1's verrucca. After weeks and weeks we gave up and have started to use Wartners - 2nd application and it's looking like it might drop off any minute (fingers crossed)

SlightlyMadStew · 17/05/2007 22:16

I know bananas don't worl for 100% of population but I will always try them first as they are painless unlike all other treatments we tried/looked at. What have you got to loose?

Give them 3 weeks - if you see no change then start inflicting pain and spending money on pharmaceutical treatments. As this is a fairly fresh verucca and not 10 years old like some of those on the VoodooBananaHead thread I think you stand a better chance than some.

friendlyedjit · 18/05/2007 08:51

hey speccy, who knows what another 20 will bring!!! Hope they're not causing you too much harm.. in the majority they do go, there are a few warty malingerers though..you've got the malingerers
