Hi, Aims. A similar thing happened to me last year. They didn't take it out (dentists never take a healthy tooth out, even if only part of it's left). They just filled it.

And IT DIDN'T HURT A BIT

Honest!

I did thisa a few years ago, but it was 1/4 of the tooth. Dentist managed to fill it, but said if it didn't work would need a crown. Still seems ok so you may get lucky

PS mine went while eating a crisp, although dentist suggested it had been weakened by something in the preceeding weeks (suspect it was Thornton's treacle toffe )

I lost half a tooth like that, I had a crown fitted to the half that was left. It wasn't too bad, but I did have to have a root canal filling done. If there is no pain then I suspect that the root of your tooth is already dead so you may have to have a root canal filling done too. It takes a while, but it didn't hurt me at all, in fact I didn't even need a local anesthetic.

I had a few visits, 3 I think, but the last one was very short, just to get the crown stuck on.

That bad huh? There, there, poor thing. Still, better to get it done and over with.

It's the cost that really makes me wince. I knew my current dentist was going to be expensive when I lay back in the chair and saw he had a flat-screen tv attached to the ceiling.
