Cyanosis

hello, does anyone have experience of peripheral cyanosis? My Dh's toes on one foot have started to get a blueish tinge when inactive - he fell badly on that ankle a couple of weeks ago. I've looked up cyanosis and have seen its causes but am not sure if it is a coming and going situation (as in the blueness) or would you expect to see blue more or less permanently if it is cyanosis? He's going to get a GP appointment but I thought I'd ask here too...
