Travel vaccinations - nhs

Hi all,

Last year we had some travel vaccinations on the nhs, this year my DH, DS and DSS need to have hep A for a second dose (to be covered for 25 years, and because we are going away again). Our doctors no longer offer it so looks like we need to go private, however my DSS is registered at a different doctors so can still get his on the NHS. So seems to be a bit of postcode lottery as to whether they are covered on NHS or not. Assuming there is no way round it for DS and DH and we'll pay to go private. Just wondered what others experiences were of travel vaccinations recently?

My dd has needed hep b for camp america and couldnt get them at gp and had to go private, whereas a friends dd got it free last week at her gp. Doesnt make sense as there is a shortage.

Even when we going on our honeymoon 27 years ago, dh had to pay for his at his gp and i got mine free.

About 12 years ago I needed vaccinations for the NHS course I was doing. My GP did them free but the university GP practise wouldn't. It's a lottery.

I've had some done on the nhs and had to pay for some privately too. I think they should all be charged for, it's something I budget for when planning a holiday, like insurance, visas etc
