I assumed it was some hideous drugs i was on
so i came off them
My appetite has suddenly kicked in with avengance and instead of the imense weight loss i was anticipating - things still appear to be going and up

Got on the scales in Boots yesterday and they put me at 8 lbs overweight which is depressing enough but i am hardly bloody eating

I am vegetarian and eat salad at least 4 times a week
I dont eat desserts unless its special occasion
NEVER eat chocolate or crap in day

I usually weigh around 9 stine 8 to 9 stone 12 which i dont mind - not a waif but fine

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME - its bizarre. I walk everywhere pushing a baby- at pace
Do all my own cleaning and house is 4 storey...anyone experienced this or have any tips.

Am i going crazy

Thyroid imbalance?

WigWamBam · 16/05/2007 16:31

Yep - get your thyroid checked out.

3andnomore · 16/05/2007 16:36

Hm...are you breastfeeding?
Now I know people claim you loose weight whilest bf...but with ys that defiantely wasn't true at all for me....even when I actively tried to loose weight it didn't budge....
Do you eat lots of dairy and Pasta? That could be a problem.
But getting the thyroid checked would defiantely be a good start.

3andnomore · 16/05/2007 16:37

OH, may I also say, those scales in Boots and those Places tend to be really rubbish...

3andnomore · 16/05/2007 16:37

Oh, and how tall are you, if you don't mind me asking? Not that BMI really tells ya that much, as clearly muscle weighs more then fat...

OtterInnit · 16/05/2007 16:41

I am 5 foot 8 which makes the bmi normal but the boots thing said my ideal weight is 10 stone 2 and i believe it!
I look horrid it just is not me

I do LOVE dairy bread and pasta!!!!!!

3andnomore · 16/05/2007 16:50

Maybe eating more fruit and veg and cutting down on manmade carbs and dairy (like cheese, etc....)would help....
I am really into Jason Vales Juicemastering...and doing hhis Slim 4 Life thing now and it defiantely is something that as a vegetarian would work well

3andnomore · 16/05/2007 16:51

Here is something I wrote earlier on a different section....
here

deestingsduznotappen · 16/05/2007 16:58

Yep 3and, I put on 12lbs breastfeeding

tid · 16/05/2007 18:01

Could be sensitivity to dairy and/or wheat? You sound exactly like I was for a year after my DD was born - ate very little, walked everywhere but lost no weight. Then I gave up dairy and wheat for 3 months and it finally shifted. I used goat's milk and wheat-free bread/pasta. Now I'm back on normal dairy and just vary the wheat products so I'm not having it at every meal and things are pretty stable. Hope this is useful.

Another thought just popped into my head....sometimes it's possible to eat to little, which makes the Body go into survival mode...i.e. it holds onto everything possible...

OtterInnit · 16/05/2007 21:54

yes 3and no more my friend said that - but how can i break that habit?

i had a smoothie for breakfast today (i always skip - have done for 30 years) and i was RAVENOUS by 1pm and had a huge lunch of omeltette

Otter...seeing that I am a follower of the Juicemaster, now, I always have a Juice or Smoothie for Breakfast as my Breakfast... and then Fruit as a snack later!
Breakfast is one of those important meals and if you completely skip it, it really can affect weightloss, as the Body will go without food for to long and then will go into "starvationmode", where it hangs on to the fat, just incase, lol!
Indeed I try to have just Juice/Smoothie for Lunch aswell...so, only have one "proper" meal, but the Juices are obviously highly nourishing, I put things like Spinach etc...into them and smoothie them with avocado, etc...! You can't compare a homemade Juice to a shopbought one, they are so nice and thick, etc...(depending on what is in them, of course, lol!

OtterInnit · 17/05/2007 10:13

3 and no more
had one again today ...yeuch
Dont get me wrong i lurve smoothies but my poor body does not do breakfast...

off to get pedometer later - might attach it to my arms instead of legs as i do so much cleaning!

what sort of smoothies do you make? Are they done wiht milk ?

glittercaz · 17/05/2007 13:42

errr, sorry, but that HAS to have been a scale malfunction! no way could you be remotely overweight at 9 stone 12 and 5 foot 8! x

OtterInnit · 17/05/2007 14:42

3 and no more !! MaKE? MAKE? i buy!!!! no just fruit!

Glittercaz - i am 10 stone 8!!!!

3andnomore · 17/05/2007 14:53

lol Otter...get yourself a Juicer and Blender, and get going making your own...there is no comparison...shop bought ones are virtually dead, lol...

WanderingTrolley · 17/05/2007 14:56

Otter - also get yourself a pregnancy test.
