Anyone who knows about wonky hormones?

Just wondering really whether I should save up to see a private specialist as I will get nowhere with my GP!

All my life I've felt a bit 'wrong'. Basically I have a weird build - weight goes very much on my stomach and I have looked pregnant since my teens. I am overweight and struggle to lose weight whatever I do-I have to severely restrict calories and carbs to see any result at all, and I seriously do not overeat. The only time I've ever been able to lose weight easily is when I was pregnant.

I have Insufficient Glandular Tissue in my breasts so they are tube shaped and I had problems breastfeeding.

I have high blood sugar, not quite pre-diabetic, but heading in that direction, despite eating very few carbs and little sugar.

I have had depression all my life.

I've asked about hormone imbalances at the GP, in particular PCOS, as I wondered whether Metformin might help, but have been told that as I have regular periods and had no fertility issues, there would be no point in referring me.

Is there anything I can do? I would love to see if I could shift some weight and reduce all my health risks (am currently at the border of overweight and obese and live on around 1000 calories a day).
