Any ideas why I feel so bloated? Especially when I wake up.

A few years ago I started feeling uncomfortably bloated all the time. Sort of permanently full and hungry at the same time. After trying various things I eventually tried cutting wheat out of my diet, and it seemed to help a lot. The bloating feeling went away, I regained control of my appetite. I had been overweight for years but finally, easily lost the weight. All good.

A couple of times since I have eaten wheat and found that it does in fact make me feel extremely bloated and full, and makes me want to eat like crazy.

Now the bloating feeling is back. I wake up in the morning feeling as though I must have eaten an 8 course banquet in my sleep. I can't work out what's causing it.

I eat very little dairy and sugar. No alcohol during the week. No meat and no wheat.

I mostly eat vegetables, pulses, rice, salad and eggs. It should be easy on my stomach shouldn't it?

Typical day:
B: rice cakes and avocado or granola with almond milk.
L: either rice and beans and veggies, or a salad.
D: small omelette.

Snacks are fruit, oat cakes, peanut butter.

I do drink tea and coffee, but nothing after 2pm. I drink a lot of water.

I don't have an answer but I know exactly how you feel. I used to get this all the time. It stopped firstly when I was eating low carb, and then again when I went vegan! The only thing that I cut down/out in common in both ways of eating is sugar.

Beans?
I sympathise.
I am currently somewhere where rice and beans are staples and I am suffering...

See your gp and mention bloating. It can be a symptom of certain things

Look at the FODMAP diet. You might be struggling with certain sugars and resistant starches.

I bloat up if I eat beans. I avoid them like the plague.

Good chance it’s pulses, but I’m beginning to suspect that all the tea I drink is making me feel bloated and gassy. I’ve no idea why tea would do that but there does seem to be a link for me.
