Can i ask GP for a health MOT or do I have to BUPA?

Just that really. I am 36 and feel the need for an m.o.t. Mother recently diagnosed with lupus, strong history of other auto immune conditions in her family. History of heart problems, although hers are caused by the lupus. Also feeling tired all the time and run down, one bug after the other...although that could be the effects of having 3 babies in 3 1/2 years!The eldest is now 5. So is it worth asking or will they laugh at me?

as you have some general worries about your health and hereditary queries your GP would probably be happy to do some general blood tests and the usual bp etc.
Anything like a scan would need to be done for a specific reason so only privately I think.

Ok, thanks. It just seems to me that Dh has been called to the docs for a "well man health check" but so far nothing for woman and i was wondering whether this was policy or just something they had put into practice, and if there was going to be a standard one for woman too. I suppose there is only one way to find out!

There should be a well woman clinic, i know my GP has one at our surgery, may be worth asking not sure what they would check you for though, might not go into everything but think it will be BP, Heart rate, that sort of thing.

I'm sure you can get some blood tests, bp, weight check etc, especially if you are feeling really tired. There's little use in a scan since it finds out all sorts of things that often lead to worry since if something has been seen, it needs to be investigated. Your doc should have no probs with addressing your worries.
