Had my test today.
My baseline test was high, and they questioned if I had followed the avoidance of certain foods or eaten anything. I hadn't, and then they gave me the lactose drink.
My readings were high, nurse said she had seen higher but I was pretty near the highest she had seen.
All that didn't bother me, but what has is the side effects of the drink.
10 mins after drinking it my already bad IBS pain level shot up and up and up.
Had to go to the loo while there and when I finally left by the time I got to the car park I was bent over with pain.
one hour after getting home, got an urgent call to 'go' and lets just say I didn't get there in time.
And then it happened again, and pain level is still high.
No one warned me it would be THIS bad, and unless I feel magically better by 9pm I don't think I dare go to work.

has anyone else ever had the side effects so bad?

Not as bad as you, which sounds awful !! but my DD had almost immediate reaction to the lactose drink, stomach cramps, run to the loo and headache. She also was on the extremely high side of the test. Her symptoms had disappeared within about 2 hours of stopping the test.

I felt better the next day, but in the end too the day off work, just in case.
had ongoing stabbing pains at odd times throughout the day.

I never want to go through that again!
