Mole worried

thesqueezedlemon · 01/05/2018 11:18

I've had this mole for about a year. It started as a spot before getting bigger. Then it stopped getting bigger and hasn't changed size and shape in the last 6 months or so. Not really been keeping track of it as it was symmetrical and all the same colour.

I was just watching RHOCheshire and one of them has skin cancer on her face. I was reading a thread about it on here and people were mentioning it being a BBC so I googled it and some of the photos look like this and now I'm in a panic.

Any thoughts?

Isn't BCC the one that isn't really cancer, but MIGHT become cancer. Like DCIS in breasts. They only exist to be false alarms.

If it is BCC, it's very treatable, they remove & almost nothing else ever happens. Maybe go chat to GP?

Sorry BCC. Stupid phone!

I had a mole on my back removed a few years ago. I'm pretty sure what was what it was but it was never referred to as such.

Does it look like anything sinister? BCC or otherwise?

It looks like a harmless dermatofibroma. I have one on my arm.

Probably nothing, but definitely get it checked out asap to put your mind at rest. Is it similar looking to your other moles? I had a mole check a while ago and my dermatologist said to watch out for moles which look different to the type of mole you normally get.

I've just been to the GPs for a similar looking mole. There happened to be an observing GP in the room, so there were 2 of them looking at it. They referred me, as they said they had no way of telling if it was anything to worry about or not, only a biopsy would be able to tell. They also said that it would be marked urgent, and I should hear in 6 weeks (so not so urgent then!!).

I've had a couple like that on my leg and they were dermatofibromas. The GP removed them but only because I was worried, not because he thought they were anything sinister. You should get it checked obviously but don't think it will be anything to worry about. Is it on your leg?

thesqueezedlemon · 02/05/2018 00:06

I'll phone tomorrow to make an appointment. A bit worried now as I've left it so long.
I've just googled dermatofibroma and it does look like that. I'd never heard of it before.

It's on my arm. Halfway between my wrist and elbow. Sorry should have included that in op.

It doesn't look like a mole. Moles tend to be brown (though not always.)

Ifi t's red it looks like something else.
