GoingGrey81 · 28/04/2018 14:52

I was given morphine a week ago in hospital (on waiting to have gallbladder removed) and since then ive been terribly constipated. 4 days since i started getting bum pain. It isnt the 'ring' area, its infront between anus and vagina. The muscle there feels incredibly sore. It started becoming uncomfortable to walk, stand, sit.. 7 days in now and Im in such pain and still no bowel movement. I went to out of hours this morning and was examined. No tears, piles etc. Dr seems to think pain is caused by the strain on my muscle. I have Never felt anything like it. Has anyone had similar? I am going to Florida in 4 days with hubby and kids and worried sick! The pain is so bad!

Maybe speak to a pharmacist they are usually good it’s advice on that sort of thing. Maybe a glycerine suppository may help & a laxative with senna.

GoingGrey81 · 28/04/2018 16:13

The dr has given me laxido oral sachets which i have taken 2 of so far today and nothing. I just hope once i have been to the toilet the anus pain relieves a bit. Im really worried it wont..

A hot water bottle may help. Or try a warm bath & masage your tummy.

mrsreynolds · 28/04/2018 16:34

You need to double up on the laxido (my Dr told me this)
Then get yourself some glycerine suppositories
Good luck

Footle · 28/04/2018 18:09

Laxido is the same as Movicol. It can only work if you drink enough fluid with it. Mix the next 2 sachets into a glass of water , let it dissolve, drink it down, then follow it with at least a pint of water , squash, whatever you like. Have another pint over the next hour. This should work.

MyBeloved · 28/04/2018 18:23

Lots of coffee, 4 x laxido in a day and glycerine suppository.

And put 'i like to move it move it' ot ' i can move any mountain' on repeat...

Good luck Op!

Funnyface1 · 28/04/2018 18:39

Laxido, glass of prune juice, 2 tablespoons milk of magnesia. Good luck.

endofthelinefinally · 28/04/2018 18:47

2 glycerine suppositories.
Why hcps give morphine and dont give stool softeners and laxatives I will never know
It is cruel and negligent IMO.
You will need to keep going with movicol and suppositories until your bowel starts working again.
Try massaging your tummy as well.
You may need an enema if suppositories don't work.

endofthelinefinally · 28/04/2018 18:49

Nothing you put in the top end will shift the current blockage at the bottom. Get the suppositories asap. The other stuff will help to get things back to normal.

I've had this, it was the worst pain I have ever felt. Hot baths to try and get movement, hot water bottle on tummy, eat figs, lots of water but mine still wouldn't budge. I was given laxido too - I didn't think it would work but by day 2/3 I had movement and was fine after that so fx it's the same for you!! I feel your pain though it's awful so hope it clears fast and you can enjoy your holiday!

GoingGrey81 · 29/04/2018 04:53

Thank you all. I have had 2 movements now which really relieved the pain my anus after the first. But pain has come back with a bang by evening. Now early morning im running a bath to sit in to try amd help the soreness. It feels like something else is going on there but dr didnt spot anything. Pain is horrendous just infront of anus and slightly to right cheek 😭 im so fed up. Still hurts to walk and stand

Op I could of written this myself!! Although I'm 31 weeks pregnant, Friday nights saga was in no doubt the most pain I have ever been in, in my life... I swear I was sweating out my eyeballs!! Dh went to the pharmacy and got some sachets recommended by pharmacist to soften everything and then anusol for everything else. Nice hot bath which I kneeled in and then sudacream on that muscle you were talking about. I'm such a tough person but it took me by surprise, you have my total sympathy! Good luck 🤞

Mybabystolemysanity · 29/04/2018 05:34

Try some dulcolax (softener) and lots of water today. PP is right about Morphine and not giving softener/lactulose. Glycerine suppositories are wonderful things.

GoingGrey81 · 01/05/2018 07:13

So i have found out this morning what the pain is. Im going through the worst most horrific pain ever between my legs. I take a pic to see if everything looks ok and there is a lump of pus in my vulva. I knew this was an infection, i told both drs at the weekend that the throb throb throb felt like infection but both sent me off. I am so angry as its clear as day this morning that this is a Bartholins absess.

Oh dear op, doesn't sound good. Have you managed to see someone? When is your holiday?

IHateToCashew · 01/05/2018 08:48

Ugh. I had a similar problem after DS. It took fourteen days Blush it took around 8 sachets of movicol a day, and two suppositories.

GoingGrey81 · 02/05/2018 07:39

Im in hospital. I had emergancy surgery yesterday to lance the abscess and now im on antibiotics through canula. We should have been flying to florida at 11am this morning. I feel soooooo bad on my kids 😢 anyway we have cancelled it all and hubby contacted insurance and got the ball rolling there .. hopefully we can rebook and go in a few weeks
Feeling a little let down by the nhs at the mo. But cant complain of last 24hrs everyone has been fab. X

Well I'm really glad to hear you've had treatment and I hope you feel lots better soon. Sounds like the constipation sent the original doctors looking in the wrong place. Be careful of constipation while you're in hospital having this new treatment.

Awful timing for your holiday but the main thing is you're getting better and you'll be well enough to enjoy yourself when you do go.

GoingGrey81 · 02/05/2018 18:53

Home now very saw. Most horrific thing ever having the pack pulled out this afternoon 😭 but feeling much better. I have bad wind and feel like im going to want a poo soon but a bit scared cos of wound hurting but wound is in labia area x

Yes you're going to have to be very careful, no straining. You don't want to be on the toilet for any longer than is absolutely necessary so stool softeners if you need it, keep on with the laxido. Good luck, the worst is over now.
