Are you pregnant as it can come on during pregnancy?

I can't help, exactly but I developed this while pg with ds nearly 4 yrs ago. It was very bad at the time but only comes on mildly now from time to time. I really don't know why.

I had an osteopath treat it which gave good results. I really didn't want to have surgery (the "tunnel" or space where the nerve runs from the wrist into the hand is widened surgically).

Im not pregnant, the doctor said it mainly effects pregnant laddies but can effect you at any time, he has spoke to me about surgery if the tests come back positive.

Hmm Surgery can help, and it can affect all sorts of people. Do you have any neck or arm pains, pins and needles? Sometimes the problem can be higher up ie up the arm and neck, and can be aggrevated by posture, sustained or repetitive activities affecting the upper limbs, so you perhaps want to see if any of that contributes before you consider surgery. The tests are normally nerve condution studies looking at how the nerve is affected in the carpal tunnel. Like sauce says osteopathy and physio could help too, so give that a go if you want whilst waiting for the tests to be done and see if there is any change. Hope that is helpful.
