Atorvastatin

My cholesterol test has come back high at 8.3.

My GP has prescribed me 80mg Atorvastatin daily.

This just seems a huge dose to take. Should l have been started on a lower dose and then increased?

As an HCP I just wanted to reassure you that yes some patients are started on this dose. Although it is max dose for this medication it can be started at this and you should just watch for any side effects which if you experience can have the dose reduced
