Lump on tonsil and white streaks

Earlier today I could feel a slight discomfort when swallowing on the right hand side, felt like I had a bit of food stuck against that side of the throat so I had a look and there is a small lump on that tonsil, it's a bit white but mostly skin/tonsil coloured, got my husband to have a look with his torch on his phone and he said he could see white streaks at the back of both tonsils. It doesn't hurt at all and I don't suffer (touch wood) from throat issues, I've had tonsillitis once at 12 yrs old and I had glandular fever at 17 yrs old, that's it. I do smoke lightly (about 6-7 cigarettes a day). Anyone have any idea what this could be? I'm freaked out that it's mouth cancer!

Tonsil stones?

Grandmaswagsbag · 26/04/2018 21:18

I’d say a tonsil stone. I know, I’d never heard of them either. They’re very weird but quite satisfying to pop out of you can get them!

Thanks for quick response! Would that also cause white streaks? And should I get it seen to by anyone?

Not sure about the white streaks could it be scaring from tonsillitis? Mine are still scarred years later, maybe get the dentist to have a look nest time you go. tonsil stones you can pop out yourself with a cotton bud, have a google.

Tbh I don't think I've looked at my tonsils in a solid 10 years and certainly not with a torch so the streaks could have always been there and I'd be none the wiser. Just panicked a bit when dh mentioned them, he seems to think it would be tonsillitis starting but surely it would already be feeling painful if there was pus there from an infection?

So I went to the docs this morning as I couldn't stop thinking about it (impossible when you can feel it every time you swallow) she said its a tonsil cyst! She's given me a course of antibiotics as a preventative and told me if it's not gone in 4 weeks to come bk again. Any one got any experience with a tonsil cyst? Absolutely no pain. I'm still freaking out about cancer!
