Low resting heart rate, should I be concerned?

Was ill with nasty ear infection 2 weeks ago and saw my GP - had been feeling dizzy etc. GP took blood pressure which was fine (never been a problem) and listening to my heart which was fine, however my pulse rate was rather low (she didn't say what it was).
She asked me to go to local health centre for an ECG, though she said it may be usual for me - I run for 30 mins twice a week and also do an hours yoga and I'm quite an active person, I am slimish (size10/12), I have never smoked and rarely drink.
The ECG showed 45 at first and when the nurse told me I started stressing about it being below 50 and it went up to 59. The trace was fine, nothing irregular just lowish.
I am waiting for GP to get these results but I've been worrying.
I am 52 and though fit I am not an athlete (looking at websites it states athletes can have low rates). Anyone got any experience of this?

Ear infection is a much more likely cause of dizziness. HR of 45 in someone fit is almost certainly nothing to worry about but if dizzy spells persist after ear completely cleared up GP might suggest doing a 24hr ECG trace.

My husband was found to have a low heart rate at the end of last year when he went to the GP for an unrelated issue. I think it was around 48-50; anyway he had what felt like loads of tests and in the end it was concluded that he just had a naturally lower health rate likely because like you, he had exercised regularly his whole life. His doctor did say that they have seen similar situations quite often. So try not to worry, I hope it's a similar result for you.

My resting HR is 50bpm. I’m fit as in I go to the gym several times a week but am certainly not an athlete and I’m overweight. DH is very fit and his is under 40bpm.

My resting heart rate is about 48 on average (assuming my fit bit is vaguely accurate) I run a couple of tmes a week but i’m not particularly fit.
