OKay - am set and ready to go but am a bit unsure.

Do you use it when you very first start to notice or did you use a pad until flow was heavier?

Was it hard to put it in the first time?

Is it hard to get it out?

(my son had been studing the box in the bathroom - he is 7 - he came out and held up the box and said "Mummy I am never going to get this to fit in my belly button at full moon"?!?!)

Actually the first time I inserted it was when I wasn't having a period, because I needed to know how short to trim the stem (I trimmed it all off in the end, and then used a nail file to round off the cut edge).

Make sure it's wet, perhaps try it in the shower. It was quite difficult to put in the first time, it takes a while to get used to it, but the more you do it the easier it gets. I never really got on with the folding method in the instructions with it, it tended to pop open before I wanted it to. Now I use a different fold it's much easier. I'll have a look for the website that has different folds on it and do a link if I find it.

(Do please let us know how your ds manages with it next full moon. )

Here is the link for folding instructions. I use the punch-down fold, but I insert it at Step 1 (with my forefinger in the fold) and my thumb on the back rather than the base. I find it doesn't pop open as easily as the c-fold so I give it a twist after insertion.

It all gets much easier as time goes by, I hardly have to even think about it now. Also the silicone softens slightly after a couple of months which helps too.

i fllowed instruction to fold and fold again... and it went n no probs. didnt need to trim stem much either. had v mild flow (was tail end of v light period anyway but was dying to try it ut)
thought it was great. v easy. v comfy (couldnt feel it when in) maye i am a bucket now???!

pulling out interesting, what with the vaccuum an all... how the devil you get it out w/out a stem im not sure...

Not too much of a problem putting it in, but must admit I panicked a bit trying to get it out the first time - thought it would be stuck in there forever!

Best advice I found is to "bear down" when taking it out.

I put it in as soon as I notice anything - as long as you wet it first it should go in easily enough.

thanks a lot for the replies - feel a bit better now

hey - i think that was NEI (not enough info) - come on woman, spill it; di it fit, did you struggle, did anyone walk in on you??
honestly, you cant ask us for tmi and then hold back like that

I spilled it a couple of times in the first few months, mostly onto the loo seat. I think I was pulling it out too quickly and squeezing it too hard, it's better now that I've go the hang of easing it out and just pinch the bottom to break the seal.

On the whole I haven't had any very embarassing moments. Sorry.
