Bit concerned about FIL

Just that really.

Late 60s, active, likes a drink (possibly daily, not to excess).

When I saw him today he just seemed a bit 'off'. He is usually quite sharp and quick witted, but not so today. He repeatedly wiped at one side of his mouth with the back of his hand and had a really vague, almost confused air about him, almost as if he was a bit tipsy. I mentioned to DH that I was concerned and he said he hadn't noticed anything unusual when he'd spoken to him, although his dad had said he felt very cold.

Any ideas what might have caused this? My immediate concern was a stroke type episode, but as time went on he perked up a bit and became more like himself.

Did you ask him how he was feeling?

Are you able to go back and see him tonight or tomorrow to check on him?

Didn't ask him how he was feeling, no - I'm not particularly close to my PILs and I felt that if I mentioned that he didn't seen quite himself he'd take offence.

He and MIL are together (she is also reasonably fit and active) and SIL spends a lot of time with them so if he does go downhill someone is there on hand.

Have you checked on him today OP? It does sound a little stroke-like so it might be worth getting DH to have a word with MIL?
