Weird period with IUD

I've had a really weird period this month. It started with me being really emotional halfway through my cycle. Then period started a couple of days late but very light with bad cramping (normally I have mild or none). I have had a copper coil for nearly two years so I don't think it is related but it is really off for me and have worried me. Can a copper coil be the cause?

I’ve never had this with the copper coil. Have you done a pregnancy test?

No. Could it be pregnancy though? I did have a period on my second pregnancy but no cramping. It didn't occur to me as a possibility.
