Clogged milk duct? Help!

So I woke up this morning with my right boob in ridiculous amounts of pain. Disproportionately so, I was expecting swelling and gunk and god knows what from the pain. But when I've checked all there is is that one of the bump/lumps on my areola has swollen up so that it's about half the size of my actual nipple and is very red and extremely sore. There's no gunk or white just red stretched and swollen.

I had my first child almost 6 months ago. I am not and have never breastfed him.

I tried just wearing light tshirts but that was horrific. Ended up having to put on a padded bra and further pad it with tissue but if anything so much as brushed my boob it's been so painful all day.

It's not gone down at all and I can't seem to find anything online that's similar. A blocked milk duct seems to be the closest I can find but there's no redness besides the lump, the whole of my boob is slightly swollen but only so that I would notice, I am exhausted but my son has not been sleeping so I'm not sure that's a symptom and I have no temperature.

Anyone any ideas? It's far more painful than when my milk came in even and I just want to cry 😩

I'd try a hot flannel over it then try to express if possible. Do you have a pump or know someone who can lend you one? If it is a blocked duct, I found they needed quite a strong 'suck' to pull through the blockage. It can be done by hand if no pump but that requires a fair bit of massaging.

Sometimes the skin can grow over a duct blocking it. Is this likely? In this instance I scratched away at it a bit before doing the above (not the most hygeinic method I'm sure!).

Milk production is a funny thing. Even if you didn't bf, you had milk at one point. IME it can take ages to go. I stopped bf DC2 12m ago now, yet I leaked in the shower last week. I'm still getting ducts blocked at the surface, but without all the hard lumps and pain thankfully!

Hmm...it doesn't sound like s clogged milk duct to me. Those little bumps on your areola secrete oil I believe, it does sound like one of those has somehow got blocked. Hot compress might help, otherwise I'd probably see your GP in case there's an infection.
