Having a lap on Thursday and I’m getting incredibly nervous. Having all the usual irrational fears, that I’ll bleed to death, not wake up! Etc.... any comfort would be very much appreciated 😘 x

Is endometriosis suspected, this is usually why such keyhole surgery is performed.

I have had one of these types of ops and in my case the fear of it was far worse than the reality. I am still here and the op itself lasted about an hour or so. Please talk to the surgical team about your fears in advance, they can and will help you. The worst thing I found about this op was post surgery; the carbon dioxide gas they use to get a better view of your organs travels up into your shoulders and can hurt a lot. Painkillers however, can take the edge off it if not completely. I was also advised to have 2 days off work post op which I was also glad of.

They should ideally make an appointment for you a week or so post this op to discuss the findings; telling you what they have found whilst you are in the recovery room is very poor practice and should not happen.

I’ve had ongoing pelvic pain since my MC, so the next step was a laparoscopy. Which is made the decision to have. I know thousands of women wait forever to have one, so I know I’m fortunate that I’m having one quite quickly. But still incredibly nervous xx
