Thinking about breathing

I cant articulate this well enough to make sense but I feel like I have to manually control breathing. I think about it all the time and it feels really unnatural. Anyone else?

It seems that you didn't die in your sleep last night. Therefore it's not based in reality.

You need a different word from 'manual control' - presumably you don't mean you control it by hand.

It sounds as if you've become over aware of your breathing, and will feel better once you aren't focusing on it. It's an autonomous function, which means it will continue all on its own.

Oh I'm well aware yes and I tell myself both those things regularly but my mind continually wanders back to it during my waking hours.

It sounds like anxiety. I don’t know if this is the right thing, but you could try some meditation. Look for “yoga mudra” on YouTube, perhaps steer clear of the breathing exercises.
