Have finally booked an appointment next week with GP. Am 46. Have been putting it off because none of my symptoms on their own are too bad to cope with apart from the anxiety, but added together means I basically feel crap - periods not regular, anxiety, palpitations, not sleeping, recurrent breast cysts causing pain (had last one taken out) depressed, aching joints, puffy face in the mornings, lack of concentration, no libido at all, vulvitis, simple tasks are an effort.....blurgh!
Problem is U am crap at explaining how I feel to GPs and am easily robbed off.Sad

My advice is to be prepared. Firstly, you should ask your GP to check your fsh levels (and oestrogen) to confirm you are likely in the perimenopause. Then start reading about it and decide how you think you want to tackle it, naturally or hrt. If natural, you might be lucky and your GP might be able to advise, but otherwise, you might need to rely on website for info. If you are prepared to take hrt (again, do a lot of reading about pros and cons before deciding), tell them and they can prescribe the best one for you.
