Ovulation/mid cycle symptoms

LilaGrace · 19/04/2018 16:14

Recently- as in last couple of months- I've had very noticeable symptoms mid cycle. I feel bloated and get a feeling of heaviness in my uterus- which is worse after walking around for a while. When I get up in the morning it's less noticeable. Does anyone else get this?
I'm not on any contraception, and a pelvic ultrasound 2 months ago ruled out any abnormalities. I got blood tests back the other day which were clear for any bowel inflammation.

The symptoms make me really uncomfortable and I don't understand why this has started happening? I'm 39.

Any sympathisers welcome!

Since I've hit mid forties I can really tell when I'm ovulating. I feel bloated, windy and just generally uncomfortable down below. Always passes within a couple of days. I assume it's my age.

iammargesimpson · 20/04/2018 23:54

Yip, Mid forties here too and the last few years I've felt like this, not painful just uncomfortable, like a mild cramp. Always passes after a day or two.

Giovanna75 · 21/04/2018 19:37

Mid forties here too & experiencing the same for the last 2-3 years. It’s a horrible feeling Sad

Thanks all. Have any of you experienced a burning feeling in the uterus? Not like a urine infection (when peeing) but just in the area you'd normally get period cramps?

I’m really interested to read this as I’ve been having these symptoms and a stick like sensation in the side of my groin? Plus irregular periods. Just been for a pelvic ultrasound and everything looks normal.....I’m 37

LilaGrace · 25/04/2018 16:34

Tortie- that's interesting. I have a pulling feeling down my leg and mild, muscle-pulled like pain a bit higher up on the same side. I'm wondering if it's a hernia....?

I’ve wondered the same thing about a hernia. I’ve read also the stitch feeling (which is what it should have said above, not stick!) can be something to do with muscles/ligaments connecting pelvis to legs. I’m concerned it’s my pelvic floor as I’ve had weakness before 😔 A previous doctor though had said it may be hormones....

This is weird - I came on here to start a thread about mid-cycle pain as I'm currently suffering. The thing is it's not stabbing pains on the left or the right. This feels like stomach cramps - it's central and quite intense. I had it last month too. Anybody else feel this?

LilaGrace · 25/04/2018 19:04

Pink sea- yes, that's what I've had mid cycle. The one sided pain is more all the time- hurts when I cough etc which is what could be a hernia. The mid cycle cramps are new- I'm 39. It's been the last couple of cycles.

Tortie- do you so much heavy lifting? I had a heavy toddler that I lift into the car, bath, cot, pram etc.

I'm 37 and they've just started. Glad to hear that sounds familiar, was getting worried

PinkSea · 25/04/2018 19:26

I also know exactly what you mean by the heavy feeling in your uterus

tortiebluecat · 25/04/2018 19:32

Lila I deliberately don’t usually as I’ve had previous back troubles and was worried about a pelvic floor prolapse a few years ago. But I did a lot of work around it and I really thought there was no problem now so started strength training at the gym but after 3 months I could tell it wasn’t suiting me and stopped. But this has got worse since then hence why I was thinking now maybe hernia/prolapse. But I can’t feel anything inside (sorry tmi!) and it doesn’t hurt when I cough but at different times through the month I get pain in my side lifting or moving my legs? As well as the full crampy feeling and heavy uterus

Pinksea- how many days do your symptoms last each time?

OP posts:
LilaGrace · 25/04/2018 20:36

Tortie- strangely enough, I've recently started at the gym too which may have made things worse. But the right sided pain definitely started before that, I went to the doctors in January and had the pelvic ultrasound (clear) in feb. I wondered if it might be menopause too- 😩

Yes. I've had this for about 10 years 47 now. I have to take a pain killer sometimes as it feels horrible. Like a sharp burning cranky pain. Usually over one side of an ovary.

tortiebluecat · 25/04/2018 21:37

Hmmm interesting It might well be hormonal then? Both the gp and the sonographer said hormones can cause pain and odd sensation. My hormones are doing strange things, no periods for a bit then hideous anxiety when I’m due on and awfully heavy periods. The previous doctor thought I might have endometriosis but seems not then!

PinkSea · 26/04/2018 13:03

@LilaGrace They last 1-2 days. Googling it only seems to bring up info about ovulation pain that is clearly located around the ovaries but that's not what this is

LilaGrace · 26/04/2018 16:48

Pink sea- mine too. Last week they were 2 days. Definitely a central cramping uterus pain.

I'm 42 and perimenopausal. I'm the last 2 years I've noticed that I feel rubbish around ovulation. Bloated, achy, headaches, just generally rubbish. I never really used to know when I was ovulation but I reckon I can pin point it to the time of day now!! 😁

PinkSea · 04/05/2018 07:56

@LilaGrace just reviving this to ask if you get mid cycle bleeding now too? This has started alongside the cramps for me

LilaGrace · 04/05/2018 07:59

Pinksea- haven't had mid cycle bleeding yet. But watch this space.... I'll keep you posted on this thread as I'll definitely be on the lookout for weird mid cycle symptoms. Has your doctor said this is normal? I'd probably push for a smear test if I got mid cycle bleeding.

OP posts:
PinkSea · 04/05/2018 08:35

Yes do update! I haven't been to the doc yet but I think I'll make an appointment asap

LilaGrace · 31/05/2018 06:42

How's everyone getting on? I'm having the same symptoms again this month- feeling bloated and heavy the last few days (which must be ovulation time) and the burning/cramps feeling last night. Sometimes a pulling sensation around my uterus too- generally uncomfortable 😩
